About

JWJLA12Welcome to “Food for Thought”! We are students at MS 57/James Weldon Johnson Leadership Academy in  East Harlem, and we produced this website as part of an after-school program with the News Literacy Project (NLP) and Bloomberg News.

Through NLP, we have worked closely with professional journalists to become savvy news consumers, as well as developing this multimedia website. We couldn’t have made this website without the help of our NLP journalist fellows at Bloomberg news.

From January to June of 2013, we investigated our school cafeteria as part. Working with more than two dozen Bloomberg journalists volunteering their time through NLP, we conducted research, interviewed sources on audio and video, took photos and wrote stories about school lunches. We’ve posted our stories and findings here.

Bloomberg News has generously funded our participation in the project, which provides us with an opportunity to work with video, still photographs, and audio while we investigate our topic.

We hope you like our website.
